Blackmoor Heritage Reserve, Mendip Hills
Managed in partnership with the Mendip Hills AONB, this heritage reserve is one of a number of reserves on and around the historic lead mining area at Charterhouse.
A scheduled ancient monument, it is possible to see the remains of stone built lead flues in amongst the pitted evidence of open-cast mining, now grown over.
The reserve adjoins other areas of land to explore owned by Somerset Wildlife Trust. Visit their website here to find out more.
Visit the Mendip Hills AONB website to find out more information about this area and the Mendip Hills.
Please take care when visiting this heritage reserve as the ground is uneven with hidden dips.
