Schools & Teachers
Our exciting and interactive workshops are available throughout the school year. Whether you want to visit us at one of our museum sites, or experience heritage learning within your classroom, we offer a range of curriculum-linked workshops for primary schools.
We can also deliver bespoke learning experiences for secondary, further and higher education: please contact us to find out more.
Somerset Heritage Loans Service
Do you want your pupils to get hands-on with history? Through the Somerset Heritage Loans Service, your school can borrow a wide range of real and replica museum objects to enhance creative learning in the classroom.
We offer a range of packs that support the national curriculum, ranging from the Stone Age to the Angl0-Saxons (and beyond). We also provide a delivery service, which operates at the beginning and end of every half term.
Somerset Heritage Subscription Service
Schools can subscribe to our unique Somerset Heritage Learning Service, which offers museum workshops for pupils, in-school taught workshops, and in-school loans of museum objects delivered directly to your classroom. Subscribe with us, experience a huge variety of workshops and loan resources, and enhance curricular learning for your class!
Archives Education and Learning
Take part in a tailor-made Archives workshop, either at the Somerset Heritage Centre or within your classroom. These fascinating workshops last one hour, and include a selection of original materials from our archives to enhance learning. We can also provide copies of documents and ready-made resource packs, linked to national curriculum topics. For more details about these, and other services we can offer, please visit the Archives Education and Learning page.
Projects
At the South West Heritage Trust, we can offer help and advice for schools carrying out special projects. We also provide training and resources for teachers linked to national heritage learning schemes, such as the Take One Project. Work experience opportunities are available too. Click to find out more!
