Brick and Tile Museum, Bridgwater
Discover the history of the brick and tile industry in Bridgwater. On the site of the Barham Brothers former works , the core of this museum is the town's only remaining tile kiln. Demonstrated inside are the methods and processes involved in making the impressive variety of bricks, tiles, terracotta plaques and other wares that create the ‘look’ of Somerset towns like Bridgwater, Burnham and Glastonbury.

Clay in Action
Enjoy an interactive 90 minute workshop at this fascinating former factory, and explore the untold history of the brick and tile industry in Bridgwater. Tour the brick kiln area, make a traditional clay tile with expert help, and feel history come to life at your fingertips! Tiles will be fired after your visit, and can be collected approximately one month later.
Visit information
The Brick and Tile Museum is free for schools to visit. Because of its limited space, we can only accommodate one group (maximum 35 students) in the museum at any given time. School groups are welcome to come and lead a self guided visit during the museum's opening hours.

Workshop - £3.75* per child
Prices are per child. All accompanying adults are free. The Brick and Tile Museum is free at point of entry.
* Pay as you go rate. If your school has a subscription with the Somerset Heritage Learning Service, then workshops are either free or at a reduced cost.
